The Vignerons de Laudun winery is an organization of vinegrowers who bring their harvest together to a common winery where the wine is produced and sold. They match their know-how, their knowledge of the soils and the vinegrowing traditions that have been handed down from generation to generation, with the technical means offered by a large modern winery.
The vinegrowers are members of the winery, meaning that each is a shareholder. The choices made as to the production, the cultivation, the vinification are made by the vinegrowers, with the help of the director of the winery, of an oenologist, and of the cellar master.
The shares are called "winery shares." Each vinegrower owns shares proportional to the quantity of grapes that he wishes to bring to the winery. The winery shares are, in fact, measured in hectoliters.
At the creation of the Vignerons de Laudun winery, in 1925, about 15 vinegrowers subscribed for a total of 2500 hectoliters, and built a winery for 5000. Since then, new buildings have been constructed, and today, the Vignerons de Laudun winery has a capacity of 116000 hectoliters, with 250 members.
